Patrick Liester Named Small Business Person of the Year!

DOTHAN, Ala. – The Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce recently honored its small business members during the organization’s Small Business Week 2009 held May 4-8. The highlight of the week took place during the General Membership Luncheon when Patrick Liester, with American Classifieds, was named the Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Year.

Each year nominees for the award are ranked on a point system that recognizes leadership in the community, customer satisfaction, business appearance, image and professional and civic involvement. Award nominees must reside in the Wiregrass area and own or operate a business with no more than 25 employees. Liester was selected by his peers for the award from among a slate of four Chamber members. The 2009 finalists also included Mike Azar, Micro Support Services, Inc.; Donna Balzaratti, Basketcase Café; and Anne Fuller, Flightline of Dothan, Inc.

“Every year the Chamber has several well-deserving small business persons nominated for this award,” said Rona Miller, Membership Events Task Force chair and Holloway Credit Solutions, LLC.

Liester, who was unable to attend the luncheon when the announcement was made, was asked after the event how he felt to be chosen as this year’s recipient. He responded is response was “Wow! Being chosen as this year’s Small Business Person of the Year is a huge shock. I am humbled by the honor. God has blessed me and my businesses immeasurably and I am so grateful. Of course I have been given a talented staff that does all of the real work which allows me to get out in the community and be of service. Thanks to everyone that supports us, Dothan is such a great place to do business.”
